Share sources, cite data, and make your case. Challenge others' claims with evidence. Fact-based argument is the heart of good political debate.

⚠️ What Requires Care
Strong Language
Heated language and strong criticism are generally fine. However, personal insults directed at fellow users (not public figures) risk escalating to a violation. Keep criticism substantive rather than personal.
Sharing Unverified Claims
If you're unsure whether something is accurate, say so. Presenting speculation as fact — especially about elections, public health, or criminal matters — may attract a warning label.
Satire & Parody
Satire of public figures is allowed and protected. Make it clear when content is satirical so it is not mistaken for fact.
🚫 What Is Never Permitted
Hate Speech & Discrimination
Content that targets, dehumanises, or incites hatred against people based on protected characteristics. This includes race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, disability, age, gender reassignment, and pregnancy. Zero tolerance — immediate removal and likely account suspension.
Threats & Intimidation
Threatening violence against any individual or group — real or implied. This includes doxxing (sharing personal information to facilitate harm). This is a criminal matter under the Malicious Communications Act 1988.
Harassment & Targeted Abuse
Repeated, targeted, aggressive behaviour intended to intimidate or silence another user. Calling someone stupid, worthless, or similar persistent personal attacks falls under this category.
Electoral Misinformation
Deliberately false claims about voting processes, election results, or democratic institutions designed to undermine public trust. This includes fabricated vote-count claims, false information about how to vote, and impersonation of electoral authorities.
Incitement to Violence
Content that calls for, glorifies, or encourages violence against individuals, groups, or the state. This is unlawful under the Public Order Act 1986 and the Terrorism Act 2000.
Defamation
Publishing false statements of fact that would damage the reputation of a living person without honest opinion or truth as a defence. Defamation is a civil legal matter in the UK under the Defamation Act 2013.
🛡️ Protected Characteristics (Equality Act 2010)
Content targeting anyone because of these characteristics is a violation. These are defined in law.
📏 Enforcement Ladder
Warning Label
Content flagged with a fact-check or civility notice. Remains visible with a disclaimer. Used for minor violations or unverified claims.
Content Removal
Post or comment removed from public view. Author notified with reason and right to appeal. Applies to clear violations.
Temporary Suspension
Account access suspended for 1–30 days depending on severity. Used for repeated or serious violations.
Permanent Suspension
Account permanently disabled. Reserved for the most serious violations (hate speech, threats, or repeated serious breaches). Always reviewable by senior moderator.
Referral to Authorities
Content posing credible risk of real-world harm is referred to law enforcement. We cooperate fully with UK law enforcement and the Online Safety Act 2023 duty of care requirements.

📣 Transparency Report
Pollitix is committed to openness about how content moderation decisions are made. Reports are published quarterly in line with our obligations under the Online Safety Act 2023.
⚡ How the Appeals Process Works
Notification
User receives an automated notification explaining what content was removed or why their account was suspended, including the specific Community Standard violated.
Appeal Submission
User submits an appeal within 30 days of the decision. They explain why they believe the decision was wrong. They can include context, corrections, or evidence.
Independent Review
A moderator not involved in the original decision reviews the appeal, the original content, and all available context. They must decide within 5 working days.
Outcome
Upheld: Content restored / account reinstated, with apology. Rejected: Original decision maintained, with clear explanation. All outcomes are recorded in the Audit Log.
Further Escalation
If a user believes their appeal was unfairly rejected, they can request a final review by the Senior Moderation Panel — a binding decision made within 10 working days.
